… the life and the light on stage …
“I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it is to be a human being.”
-Oscar Wilde

Actor
Position Overview
Help tell the story by embodying the text, artfully portraying your character, and gifting opportunities to your fellow ensemble members.
Duties and Responsibilities
Be present and on time for every rehearsal you are called for.
Being on time means being ready to go at the call time. The call time is not when you go to the bathroom and begin your warm-up. You should be warmed-up and ready to go at the call time.Wear clothes that you can move comfortably in and close-toed shoes. If you are not dressed appropriately for rehearsal, you will be asked to go change and marked as late in the rehearsal report.
Bring a notebook, pencil, and water bottle to every rehearsal.
Other food/drink is not allowed in the proscenium.
Be quiet and respectful while others are working. Keep talking to a minimum and at a low volume if you are not actively working on a scene. Feel free to bring homework or other quiet work to have offstage, but be ready to be called on stage to work at any moment.
Be respectful of all crew members, especially stage management. We are all part of the ensemble and disrespect of anyone working on the show will not be tolerated.
Phones should be turned on silent and only used if you are offstage. Phones should be completely put away while notes are being given, and notes should be recorded in your notebook.
When given a note, the proper response is “thank you.” Write your note down and fix it by the next rehearsal. This is how we move forward. If you have a question about the note, particularly if it relates only to your character, ask the director at the end of rehearsal.
Lines and music should be memorized by the off-book deadline.
This will require work outside of rehearsal, do not expect to have time to memorize during rehearsal. The rehearsal schedule is subject to change and any changes will be communicated as quickly as possible.
If you aren’t sure whether you are called to a rehearsal or not please message the stage manager.
Be present at all specified important dates: Q2Q, run-throughs, dress rehearsals, sitzprobe, student preview, and performances.
Take care of your voice. This means taking care of yourself. Get plenty of sleep, stay hydrated with water and herbal teas, support your breath.
