Bunny Bunny

An Energy Warmup

When do you want to use this warmup?

"Bunny Bunny" is an energetic and fun acting warmup game that promotes focus, quick thinking, and group cohesion.

Here’s how to play:

Objective

Participants pass the role of "Bunny" around the circle using specific gestures and chants, improving their focus, coordination, and ability to follow cues.

Instructions

  1. Gather Participants: Have the group stand in a circle where everyone can see and hear each other clearly.

  2. Explain the Game:

    • The game involves passing the "Bunny" role around the circle using a combination of gestures and chants.

    • It's important to maintain a steady rhythm and to pay close attention to avoid mistakes.

  3. Teach the Basic Gestures:

    • Bunny Gesture: The person who is "Bunny" puts their thumbs on their temples and wiggles their fingers like bunny ears while chanting "Bunny, Bunny, Bunny."

    • Direction Gesture: The people on either side of the "Bunny" person make a gesture to indicate the direction the "Bunny" should go next. They do this by making "paw" gestures with their hands and chanting "Tokey, tokey, tokey."

  4. Starting the Game:

    • Choose one participant to start as the first "Bunny."

    • The "Bunny" begins by doing the Bunny Gesture and chanting "Bunny, Bunny, Bunny."

    • The participants on either side of the "Bunny" do the Direction Gesture and chant "Tokey, tokey, tokey."

  5. Passing the "Bunny":

    • The current "Bunny" then chooses a new "Bunny" by making eye contact with them and pointing in their direction.

    • The new "Bunny" starts doing the Bunny Gesture and chanting "Bunny, Bunny, Bunny."

    • The participants on either side of the new "Bunny" start doing the Direction Gesture and chanting "Tokey, tokey, tokey."

  6. Maintaining the Rhythm:

    • The game continues with the "Bunny" role being passed around the circle.

    • Everyone must maintain the rhythm and stay attentive to avoid mistakes.

  7. Handling Mistakes:

    • If someone makes a mistake (e.g., by doing the wrong gesture or breaking the rhythm), gently correct them and continue the game.

    • Emphasize that mistakes are part of the learning process and keep the atmosphere positive and supportive.

  8. Ending the Game:

    • Continue playing until everyone has had a chance to be the "Bunny" or for a set amount of time.

    • End the game on a high note, congratulating the group for their focus and coordination.

Tips for Success

  • Keep It Fun: Encourage participants to be playful and enjoy the silly nature of the game.

  • Stay Focused: Remind participants to pay close attention to the "Bunny" and the Direction Gestures to keep the game flowing smoothly.

  • Promote Positive Energy: Create a supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable making mistakes and learning from them.

  • Encourage Participation: Ensure everyone gets a chance to be the "Bunny" to keep the game inclusive and engaging.

Variations

  • Speed Round: Increase the pace of the game as participants become more comfortable to add an extra challenge.

  • Different Animals: Change the "Bunny" gesture to mimic other animals (e.g., "Monkey" with hand gestures for ears and sounds).

  • Themed Gestures: Introduce themed gestures and chants (e.g., seasonal themes, movie characters) to add variety.

"Bunny Bunny" is a fantastic way to energize a group, improve their listening skills, and foster a sense of unity and playfulness before diving into more complex acting activities.
